September 2008 Update
New major update, new items, new reason to say “ow, I came”
Among completely useless stuff like most “new relics” and some armor piece, this update brought us awesome stuff! I know COR AF2 and AF1+1 are beyond hax, but since I don’t have that job, or PUP and BLU I’ll totally skip that point!

Call me stupid or something, but I’ll totally get this for my DD WHM PLD build. Because you know, I actually have fun smashing mobs on my lolJobs :3 Nice melee Ammo item i can finally wear! Not too great but still better than some Hedhog bomb~

Definitely getting this for the few times I need to use the -DMG spear. Useful on JoL (not like I have problems keeping hate on it….) or better, Ixion. But we don’t really fight that, too bad x.x;

Like less 2 wind skill and 5 more CHR… even if BRD is my first job, I really dunno if this is better, but I am not a big CHR believer.. this neck piece has a big question mark on me. /pokepoke Etain

This is not bad. This is actually equal to Demon’s +1 and doesn’t have the horrible -6 MND i never liked….. I am seriously considering to get this as my regular nuking headgear! But ewww…. pretty hats where?

I am one of those summoners not playing with MAX MP. Everyone knows I’m an enmity believer and I actually like to wear Novia, Hedgehog bomb and Nashira head on SMN to have less hate possible. But giving up on Tamas is nonsense, but could really use it instead of Evoker’s when playing with Carby friend!

Me wants. No enmity but I find it a nice piece for holding (like Xarcabard NMs) or when Enmity isn’t really an issue like Jailer of Love (No way I can get it off me subbing RDM!) Plus it’s B2 mask model, so, win <.<!
NEW RELIC PICK OF CHOICE
Before details, I was undecided between WHM and PLD, and maybe SCH if some double weather or something was involved. So uh, guess what I’m going to upgrade?

Will totally work hard to upgrade this. This is a Macuhatl and Hauteclaire combined with better stats. Seriously, can’t stop fapping after this weapon D:
All requirements for relics are really doable, just need to check new Alexandrite droprates, because gathering 30.000 stones is just……..stupid. We have a run on Wednesday, and still thinking what to do with eventual 100s, 50s, or anyway higher amounts than singles, because we currently freelot Alexs right now.
Regarding other stuff, I can’t really tolerate people whining about capped gear. It gets gimped, we knew that. Why the fuck you care about your Osode at lvl70 when there is like no capped area at that level or mission? Why people just think of themselves? Why you can’t just HAVE FUN with your friends helping them leveling or doing COP?
No, I’m not an hypocrite. I actually help friends for real. I am about to start a new CoP set, not for my mule (cause mine has sea access already, so) but for the sake to be useful and like I said, HELP.
Stop QQ’n and being selfish, seriously.
Last but not least, we did a couple of quick Nyzul runs, floor 100. We walked away with a Goliard hat (I got it, woo-hoo!) and NIN WAR BLM THF weapons. I didn’t lot Mage’s staff before getting tempted to even unlock WS, and it got lost I think.
Still regarding QQ’n, stop whining about Nyzul TOO EASY. I did it “old school” version too, almost completed 2 disks, and I’m happy about new changes. Why can’t anyone be just happy?
AND: FFXI is bad when you actualy dream about Dekka dropping your Enlil’s crackows.

Regarding Piper’s Torque, it is technically a superior piece to Wind Torque, at least for enfeebs, but it really depends on what other gear you have equipped. It’s really not hard at all to reach the soft CHR cap of 105-110ish, in which case, the 7 wind skill is a better choice, but it really is a nice piece. I won’t sell my wind torque for it, but i still want it. Of course, I’ll get it just for Campaign — can’t agrue w/ those stats.

Btw! I will come help even if we do all Promys today (which I don’t think..!) specially in BCNMs, I loved doing those @50~60!
PD: I’ve dreamt about getting a manteel once. Funny thing was it dropped from some mandy or some lowbie thing and I was freaking out lol.

Like Jack said, if your CHR is already in the ideal range, then trading off 2 skill for 5 CHR probably isn’t the best choice. It’s not a bad piece, and I’m guessing once the price drops off and stabilizes (unless it’s ra/ex? I have no idea) it will be the Spider Torque-equivalent to a Wind Torque.

@ Sofo: When I was newb BRD way back when and trying to figure out how to afford elemental staves (back when they were expensive) I had a dream that Hoo Mjuu the Torrent dropped an Earth and Light Staff for me. XD
Also had a dream once that Cloud Evokers were rewards for having sex irl. It’s better if you don’t ask where that one stemmed from- I really have no idea. XD XD

Ree Habalalo’s Headgear, seriously how can this even be considered in the league of items such as Demon Helm +1, Wzd. Petasos +1, or Sorc. Petasos? Even if you consider 1 m.acc = 1 int, you still are getting at best a 4 point base increase in m.acc. The increase in overall m.atk is also along similar lines, but at best marginal compared to other items. In all seriousness though, why does SE continue to shaft us on quality BLM gear? It’s irritating to think that we’re considered 2nd class citizens to melees.

I’m sorry but i beg to differ.
MACC has nothing to do with nuking power. 1 MAB = 2 INT, hence 2MAB (4INT)+ 2 INT makes it equal to Demon’s +1, superior to NQ and HQ AF1. Honestly, I don’t understand why people keep nuking with HQ/NQ Wizard’s petasos when a NQ Demon’s Helm is better. Those -4 enmity won’t save you, and if you don’t get hit it’s not because of that but due lack of good DMG :p
Ree Habalo’s Headgear is cool because you have an equal item but with 2MACC as bonus.
Sorcerer’s petasos has really nothing to do in this discussion. Elemental magic is needed on few mobs (even less now with Corsair’s RDM roll). BLMs perm nuking with it should be killed instant ;p
Imo, BLM hats are really ok right now, and this new one is actually a nice improvement. If SE should make something about this job’ equipment, it’s in the earring department. We have TWO (and their respective HQ version) AH choices. Which, INT wise, are totally the same, Morion and Phantom. Then you have easytoget Moldavite and ….Novio. Static is kinda lol since no one MB anymore.
BLM got a nice improvement with ZNMs on enfeebling+ gear, because a bind or something are important like your Thunder IV ;)

gratz for relic goliard! I did Nyuzl too yesterday but unfortunately no goliard dropped!! But luckily I got Scepter staff!!
I've decided since when the Mythic weapons came out that I would upgrade Nirvana, because I'm too Summoner inside, because I like the name, reminding me of FFX, and I love stats too!!! The thing i find difficult or boring is killing all Aht Urhgan Kings and doing all over again the 50 assaults, which some of them are a serious pain in the ass…about the ampoules and tokens items it's just a matter of time I think.
But I'll put all my effort on upgrading Nirvana. Firstly I'll unlock the Ws though D:

I don't think that neckpiece is that good for BRD. Better places to give up Wind skill for CHR especially if you have Shalwar.

I came when I saw the new COR AF1+1 and AF2…
Seriously… fucking win.
Commodore Tricorne… Ranged Attack +8 Augments “Phantom Roll” – This is officially better than G-horn and every other piece of relic in the game. Gives you the job bonus on rolls 100%. That means 100% extra tick on evoker's, 10% attack on chaos, rogue's being viable without a thf… etc.
Commodore Frac… STR +3 Accuracy +8 Ranged Attack +8 Enhances “Random Deal” effect – Awesome Detonator piece, maybe slug on merit mobs, beats denali jacket.
Commodore belt… STR +4 Ranged Accuracy +8 Ranged Attack +5 – HOLY SHIT.
Corsair's Tricorne +1… STR +4 AGI +4 Ranged Accuracy +9 Enhances “Quick Draw” effect – Best Slugshot head, by far.
Corsair's Frac +1… DEX +5 AGI +5 Ranged Accuracy +10 Ranged Attack +5 – Great Slug piece on HNMs/evasive mobs.
Corsair's Bottes +1… STR +5 AGI +5 Ranged Accuracy +4 Accuracy +4 – Small improvement over Skadi, especially for WS.
Death Penalty… mmm kinda undecided. Only 1 more damage than Martial Gun and lacks the TP bonus, so it'd almost undoubedly parse lower in merits. Might be good if you shoot, but even with the double damage effect, I'm not sure shooting could ever outparse meleeing, especially on birds, since Joytoy tears them up. Maybe on mamool.
The problem is that Leaden Salute is a low-damage purely magic dark elemental WS. It's basically enhanced Quick Draw. Can see this being awesome on harder HNMs, if you get enough magic acc and AGI to land it consistently. Completely useless in merits and most situations, though. Slug isn't that hard to land.
