    75 WHM!Quite a nice weekend I would say. I had really so much fun with all Linkshell people.
    But, before starting to write about it, I am happy to say that my WHM hit lvl75 ^_^ (and before SMN rofl………)
    I’ll have three 75s this week. Only 20k to go on Summoner. I had a party that lasted soo much and sucked a bit, and I was like …40k exp to go. Slowly and with patience (LS merits where!) I finally got it :3!

    I also tried salvage for the first time! Actually it wasn’t planned but Kerberoz asked me to come and I tought “why not”. And then I went there to test that thing out. Silver Sea Remnants.

    Salvage! Shhh!

    The only problem regarding this are assault points. I don’t attend to Assault so often! And I still need to get my Ygit body (Periqa points stuck at something around 2k, duh………) , but since I’ll be finished with exp business, I will have more free time! (not willing to raise more jobs for now, except for BLM37 since it would be a nice add for WHM, as sub)
    The run went just fine with no hassle. Except some uhm…..deathGA parts. If you’re going to Salvage, remember that roaming gears aren’t your friend ;_; (were hiding from them in the second sreenshot I posted :x)
    But hey, Marduk pieces where?

    Saturday I went to sleep @8am o_o; My parents had to leave for holidays @6AM so I decided to wait for em all the night, while playing FFXI of course!
    Dynamis, Salvage, EXP, PLing session to some friends, Turtle camping @Sorrow Wall….quite busy! I blame timezones, and I wish I can do something like this again. Maybe not right now, but for sure as soon as I’ll get my long-sought house (hopefully in July….. x_x)

    Ouryu D:

    More Linkshell events! Cape Riverne whores. Went there to face both Ouryu and Mr. Bahamut. But I hate Ouryu uncapped -_-;;;
    The fight is so easy and troubless, but I can still find a way to die! And I died like 5-6~ times in 5 fights there. Was not used to its AoEs at first, then was aggroed by random worms I didn’t see, and last my WHM noob skills killed me as well D:

    Unlike Ouryu (at least for me), Bahamut V.1 went so fine. No deaths, I came as WHM again. I think I will use BRD less now, since Jeff is playing full time and we have relic-horn gurl, Kamalii. But I enjoy BRD! I only wanted an alternative job for all events, beside SMN suited for HNM only, /sigh. I bought Sha’Ir feet few days ago ^_^° (Now only manteel is left…rofl!)
    Anyway! Spammed Cure V and Haste for a while and then we were done D: Thank you Graeson for helping us to do this mission! Apocalypse Night (When?)

    I bought some FFXI stuffs online few days ago o_o! Books books and books. FASHION BOOKS!

    Fashion Books

    I can’t wait to get em, and hopefully………..those will inspire me to draw something. Those things are full of references and pictures I can’t wait to see! Too bad my scanner is broken and I can’t buy a new one till i move, due no space in “my” room. So wished to scan something and put it online (like tons of tarutaru pics!)

    I wanted to talk about CoP “Easy mode” as well. Imho, it sucks. I did COP almost in the Old style way (aka: exp loss) and seeing what SE is doing right now makes me sad. Why don’t let Tenzen/Prishe/Louverance/etc doing fights for you? And.. WTF they said they will make Tenzen EASIER? -__-;
    CoP may be painful sometimes, but the reward is worth it. And hey, with this update sea will be GS’ new territory. GREAT WORK SQUARE ENIX UH?

    I helped friends with CoP even with exp loss. With no exp reward. Then again, SE should let people to choose:

    • “Easy path” (no exp loss, easier mobs etc)
    • “Normal/Hard Path” (maybe no exp loss as well, but mission like those are now.)

    Only people who compleate EACH mission in Normal/Hard mode should be able to get the ring @end of CoP. Maybe this can be ideal for people aiming for sea only. But in this way we’ll have still gilsellers.
    /sigh.

      Meh…

      Does downgrading the difficulty suddenly remove all of your memories of having done it the hard way? Does it erase all the knowledge you gained from it?

      People who’ve done CoP the hard way know what it was like, and hold laurels that others coming later will not. They devoted a good portion of their lives to get it done and saw it through.

      The fact is, some people can’t afford to do this, and SquareEnix is constantly playing catchup with WoW. They don’t want to lose more players.

      People who started on the Xbox360 are seriously bumping their heads against the CoP missions now and getting no help from the larger post-CoP crowd. So SE is doing what it can to keep this population of players in the game, and to get people moving toward the new expansion.

      Note that I’m biased in this opinion. My population was essentially excluded from this expansion. I had the pleasure of actually purchasing CoP back in the day, only to discover the level caps, the mission-locked areas, and the multiple-hour, multiple-attempt, aneurysm-enducing missions that were clearly designed for the ‘hardcore’ population of players. So I waved goodbye to $30 unwisely spent on an expansion I couldn’t use.

      I think SE is trying to get this game to survive as long as possible. Their decision to fire the guy who designed the CoP missions was their first wise choice. These last few adjustments are a move in the right direction if they want to keep the game going.

      I actually started when ToaU was already out, along with 360 version I think.
      So, there is NO difference between them and me.
      I just love the game and the challenging it offers, and I did my best finding people to do cop with and I am currently helping people complete as well even i have the final clear.
      Maybe those still @promys dont really care about learning more storyline and enjoying challenging BCs.
      Maybe those are too much used to ToaU/ZM simpleness ?

      @Raiden adn Maiev: Regarding books and info, check this website:

      I did not buy em there tho, I ordered both books in a private shop.

      I think I sort of agree with your disappointment towards next Cop update (lol ok I know I should just be thankful and shut up maybe XD)

      I think the higher than average difficulty of initial promyvions acted as some kind of filter to prevent n00bs from invading tavnazia too =P when I finally get Lufaise access I prolly won’t feel as accomplished,unless I can get promv-dem done before next patch lol^^;

    • By Verrick   UNITED STATES, 24 May 2007 @ 23:27, Thursday

      Fashion … FFXI? Interesting, interesting. I await more pictures please!

      The only thing in the update that is going to make it easier for people to help out is removing the rare/ex properties and make them purchasable from the AH. It wasn’t so much exp loss or even level capped gear (although rebuying things is annoying for some). It was having to farm all those damn items. I couldn’t help on the spur of the moment type of deals.

      Actually they made CoP easier before, so unless you did it when it first came out, we went through an easier promy set of fights at least (not sure what else they adjusted).

      ZM was never simple, per se. It was tough when you did it at level 60s. People used to do ZMs much earlier to get access to Sky where endgame was and where you would also level in your 70s. Now, with so many other options people are not getting sky until they’re interested in doing sky gods and by that time are usually 75 and breeze through the missions.

      If you can take an infinite amount of CCB polymers into the airship fight, it will be a joke. The only problem is that limbus might grow to be like dynamis with so many different shells. Especially if they reduce the cost of it. Then there will be a lot more competition and difficulty getting zones. Especially since limbus groups can be a lot smaller than dynamis. So hopefully they come up with a good solution to that or there will be just as many frustrated people.

      Maybe those are too much used to ToaU/ZM simpleness ?

      I won’t run the argument in the ground, but I’d venture to say that a large portion of the people who’ve neglected to complete CoP past the promies (which, by the way, includes myself), aren’t doing so out of an over-enjoyment of simplicity.

      The incentive is certainly motivating, considering Limbus.

      I’d actually say Limbus is one of SE’s more inspired endgame ideas, eschewing the concepts of camping gods for hours or attending dynamis for months (with potentially no yield) in favor of a more sane and modern endgame system.

      The problem is that the barrier placed in front of that inspired design and the wonderful storyline is simply too much for people who cannot devote more than a few hours per night to FFXI. And yet most of these people have paid implicitly or explicitly for this expansion and the game overall.

      It’s a flawed model. You don’t alienate the population that feeds you… otherwise they wander off to “the other MMO” and take their subscription fees with them.

      Yeah, in some cases, the extremely casual players would be better served by moving on to something else. But if SE wants to cultivate a population of dedicated players which includes adults with lives, it’s better served by what it’s doing now and bringing CoP down a smidge.

      OK, rant over, I promise.

      all i hear is wah wah wah i can’t find 5 other people that want to help me get sea.

      find the people and you got sea. you already have time when you say you play a few hours a night…

      i got sea with a slow static, just like a few hours a night, once a week…

    • By Frohike   UNITED STATES, 25 May 2007 @ 21:54, Friday

      find the people and you got sea.

      Find the people, with the “right” job combinations, who all play at the same time of night (9:30PM-12:00AM PST), and communicate well with each other and read the wiki’s, and haven’t done CoP yet since most people who’ve done it “don’t want to do that crap all over again”.

      Fixed.

      Yeah, easy peasy. I must be doing something wrong.

      P.S. I don’t think my comment amounts to “wah wah wah”. But thanks for your decorum.

      Personally, I don't quite understand why some people seem to hate CoP being made easier. For those who haven't done CoP, it would make things easier and more enjoyable. For those who have done CoP, then the changes don't affect them in any way. So why hate it?

      You made a valid point about possibility of Gilsellers coming to sea. But seriously, Zilart wasn't changed and Gilsellers only came to sky in the past year rather than from earlier days. Point is, if RMT wants to get to sea, they can do it now even with the “hard” CoP mode. In the end, they go where they can make money out of. Right now, sky is their area because the market is there. Once they've exhausted sky, then they'll move elsewhere. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they would do Dynamis, sea, limbus, assault, salvage too someday. They go to where they can make money.

      As for me, I couldn't be bothered much whether they make it easier or not. I'm up to Promyvion-Vahzl now, so I've done around 40% of CoP the old way, and possibly doing the rest the new easier way. It's not like I'm in any hurry to finish CoP or whatnot. I take my time and enjoy things with whatever small time that I have to play.

      I think as far as Riverne you got a bit unlucky. You may also want to think about sub blm for stuff like that. When dealing with all that AOE, taru whm/smn hitpoints scare me…yea, auto refresh is nice, but but…Thats my preference anyway. When I play WHM, I almost always sub blm rather than give up my precious HP, unless I know that the party will want aerial armor. At least with /blm, you could have tried to sleep the aggro.

      For Periqia, find 2 people that are on Rank 3 or higher for Assault, then spam Saving Private Ryaff. Best pt setup I have seen is Any BLM or /BLM x2 and a SAM with dagger skills. Strategy is MGS past any aggro, have the SAM meditate at every oportunity. When you get into the rooms, SAM AOE WS the chigoes, and a mage goes and talks to the prisioners. If its an undead, Elemental seal sleep. Go to next room. Once I start getting unlazy, I plan on doing this on one of my mules, since he does assaults, but so far, I've been pretty lazy.

      The thing that bothers me about CoP being made easier is in my opinion, it already IS easier right now. The first time I did it on kama, I remember zoning into Lufaise after a promy with 3 hp, no mana, and being poisoned dropped dead after cutscene, wiping a few times to Diabolos because he spammed nightmare, watching the tenzen weaponskill and thinking oohh cool…but then getting ejected from the BC, spending 6 hours and endless gil on fighting Promathia (we were determined to finish it with 3 tarus only), etc. etc. Right now, I do CoP with some RL friends on one of my mules, and we have yet to have a close call in a BC. AND, all of the promies and mammets were dualboxed…That tells me the missions have already been made easier.

      Now, I know that some people struggle with CoP, and it is a pain to ask your friends, especially since most of the players that I consider good are in HNMs and have multiple jobs, so their time and inventory space is pretty limited. Giving them a reward or less of a penalty for helping with CoP would be cool, but giving XP for finishing a mission where the end reward is a really cool item as well as access to some fun places smacks of WoW to me. I thought it would be cool if someone that was just helping could get a side reward, like a side quest. If you aren't finishing the mission, get a scroll, or some drop or something.

      OK, I can see that sometimes farming items is a pain, that change makes a little bit of sense to me. Make Hippo feathers or the bomb things for salt or Remnants AH-able, and there is another avenue to make some gil. But removing the rare from some items? I have been thinking just exactly what items are rare for COP battles, and have only come up with 2 – aminas and CCB. Now, if you eliminate the rare from them, the battles turn into something that is stupid-easy. Technically, you can have one person that is completely naked, just stuffed to the max inventory space with these items. So, you can lock the boss for an extended period of time. Thats ridiculous. Its like having your best friend hold someone's hands behind their back while you beat the crap out of them. There is no challenge in that whatsoever. I certainly hope that is not what SE does when they say they are eliminating the rare from CoP items, but I fear that is the case.

      quick note!

      If you do Ryaff you don't need to actually kill the chigoes. They deaggro easily. Just have someone with a lot of HP go in and aggro the fleas, sleepga them, get the npc and run to the next room! They won't chase you.

      I did ryaff 21 times to get rank 4 'cause the other ones were too hard >.>;
