find the people and you got sea.

Find the people, with the "right" job combinations, who all play at the same time of night (9:30PM-12:00AM PST), and communicate well with each other and read the wiki's, and haven't done CoP yet since most people who've done it "don't want to do that crap all over again".

Fixed.

Yeah, easy peasy. I must be doing something wrong.

P.S. I don't think my comment amounts to "wah wah wah". But thanks for your decorum.

Maybe those still @promys dont really care about learning more storyline and enjoying challenging BCs.
Maybe those are too much used to ToaU/ZM simpleness ?

I won't run the argument in the ground, but I'd venture to say that a large portion of the people who've neglected to complete CoP past the promies (which, by the way, includes myself), aren't doing so out of an over-enjoyment of simplicity.

The incentive is certainly motivating, considering Limbus.

I'd actually say Limbus is one of SE's more inspired endgame ideas, eschewing the concepts of camping gods for hours or attending dynamis for months (with potentially no yield) in favor of a more sane and modern endgame system.

The problem is that the barrier placed in front of that inspired design and the wonderful storyline is simply too much for people who cannot devote more than a few hours per night to FFXI. And yet most of these people have paid implicitly or explicitly for this expansion and the game overall.

It's a flawed model. You don't alienate the population that feeds you... otherwise they wander off to "the other MMO" and take their subscription fees with them.

Yeah, in some cases, the extremely casual players would be better served by moving on to something else. But if SE wants to cultivate a population of dedicated players which includes adults with lives, it's better served by what it's doing now and bringing CoP down a smidge.

OK, rant over, I promise.

Does downgrading the difficulty suddenly remove all of your memories of having done it the hard way? Does it erase all the knowledge you gained from it?

People who’ve done CoP the hard way know what it was like, and hold laurels that others coming later will not. They devoted a good portion of their lives to get it done and saw it through.

The fact is, some people can’t afford to do this, and SquareEnix is constantly playing catchup with WoW. They don’t want to lose more players.

People who started on the Xbox360 are seriously bumping their heads against the CoP missions now and getting no help from the larger post-CoP crowd. So SE is doing what it can to keep this population of players in the game, and to get people moving toward the new expansion.

Fashion ... FFXI? Interesting, interesting. I await more pictures please!

The only thing in the update that is going to make it easier for people to help out is removing the rare/ex properties and make them purchasable from the AH. It wasn't so much exp loss or even level capped gear (although rebuying things is annoying for some). It was having to farm all those damn items. I couldn't help on the spur of the moment type of deals.

Actually they made CoP easier before, so unless you did it when it first came out, we went through an easier promy set of fights at least (not sure what else they adjusted).

ZM was never simple, per se. It was tough when you did it at level 60s. People used to do ZMs much earlier to get access to Sky where endgame was and where you would also level in your 70s. Now, with so many other options people are not getting sky until they're interested in doing sky gods and by that time are usually 75 and breeze through the missions.

If you can take an infinite amount of CCB polymers into the airship fight, it will be a joke. The only problem is that limbus might grow to be like dynamis with so many different shells. Especially if they reduce the cost of it. Then there will be a lot more competition and difficulty getting zones. Especially since limbus groups can be a lot smaller than dynamis. So hopefully they come up with a good solution to that or there will be just as many frustrated people.
